Now it feels like we are on vacation!

Found both a playground and a patisserie today - we are making progress! After everyone had a nice sleep-in, we wandered out to find a fresh baguette for our lunchtime pique-nique. Here's a picture of the girls with the spoils of the hunt! After that, we headed to the Tuileries and enjoyed our sandwiches and crepes in the shade with a view if the fountain. We were surprised to see that there were no children in the fountain and then we saw the security guys who I'm sure, would nip anything of the sort in the bud very quickly - that and picnicking on the grass. Apparently, that is not allowed either. Luckily, we'd read all about this in our guidebook ahead of time and were no hauled off to the Bastille!

We also found a playground in the Tuileries which had lots of structures that were new to the girls - they loved it! They had a good, old-fashioned teeter-totter. Remember those? They have all but been removed from any playgrounds we frequent in the US - probably because they are quite dangerous but also, I get the sense that French children are of heartier stock (and certainly their parents are far less over protective. "Why Laurent, I think that scar makes you look so distinguished." "Merci mama")

We did a little window shopping in our very fashionable neighborhood, popped into an open gallery for a glass of champagne and a little art then had a nice dinner out. All in all, a great day!

  1. What a great day! Sounds like everyone has adjusted and having a great time. Champagne and an art gallery with children- you're my kind of parents! Thanks for including the great pics!

  2. Don't be too impressed - we have childcare for the evenings. This way Jack and I can enjoy more of paris than just the playgrounds!
