We woke up to very bare cupboards this morning so promptly piled everyone into the stroller and rolled over to Aux delices de Manon for our daily pastries. The girls got a sugar soaked palmier and, 5 minutes after finishing it, started to levitate in the stroller. Luckily, shortly there after we arrived at the Pompidou (modern art museum) and the girls had a good scamper out front and enjoyed the performers and artists who set up camp there. Knowing we had a short attention window before the post-sugar crash, we took them first to the 'gallerie de enfant' which we had high hopes for ... these were promptly dashed when we discovered that it could not have been bigger than 50 square meters and only had 3 pieces. There was one 'interactive' area for which there was only 3 crayons so we high tailed it out of there before there was a scuffle.
Thinking that the post modern collection might be of most interest, we wandered up there and the girls tried their hand at interpreting these pieces. Though their questions were very astute, ( "why does the world have a band aid on it?), they were difficult to answer so we decided to distract them with lunch. On the way home we popped into Berko which is not strictly a patisserie but was still very well received as all they sell are miniature cupcakes. Looks like the cupcake craze has made it to France now! Délicieux!
Our walk home was long and stressful because our Humvee stroller is even harder to pilot with the increased weekend foot traffic. After shopping for groceries and getting the girls settled at home, Jack and I took the metro back to the Pompidou to enjoy the exhibits at a more leisurely pace then went to Liza - a modern Lebanese restaurant - for dinner. It was quite good and they would have gotten a 3 fork rating had they not forgotten about us right before dessert! C'est la vie.
